It is hard to believe that this course is coming to an end! There has been so much great information shared and explored during this time. It is so interesting to read not only the course resources, but the posts and resources that others have shared via their own work as well. I have had a super positive experience in this course and learned so much. I thought I had a good understanding of what health promotion is, but I was slightly wrong. There are so many more theories, models & frameworks to look at when guiding you for health promotion (Rural Health Information Hub, 2024), as well as so many great resources and examples of models to avail of.
The most learning for me was with unit five (strength based). We often hear a lot about “evidence based” when developing practices and programs, but I believe a missing piece for me was the strengths portion. It is key to understand skills and strengths so that we can empower people not only in health (Pattoni, L., 2019) but also, for me, as a frontline manager to empower my staff. Something powerful for me from one of my previous posts was: Lavoie-Tremblay, M., et al., (2024) stated that strength-based leaders can “foster appreciative conversations by being and presenting as open-minded, authentic, compassionate and displaying integrity”.
